Java SE Runtime Environment 7 update 21

I have a Windows 8 laptop. I keep getting a message that it wants to install this update, but in the blurb it does not say it is suitable for Windows 8. IT only says Vista, Windows 7.

Is this Ok to install? Do I really need it? and if it is not critical how do I get rid of the message that keeps popping up saying it wants to install it?

any help appreciated as I am not a 'techie' as far as pc's are concerned.
