Java SE Development Kit (JDK) not found on this computer

Windows XP
Have just installed

jave-ee-sdk-5-08_sdk_6u18-windows.exe
and
sun_java_me_sdk_3-0-windows.exe => [ERROR: Java JDK not found on this computer]

the former installs in C:\Sun\SDK\bin

with jdk
C:\Sun\SDK\jdk

and PATH C:\Sun\SDK\bin variable set appropriately.

PS
I've heard talk of a --javahome installer (but not directly RE: installing SDK 6u18)
