Java PlugIn Problems Under XP Pro

I just got a new machine at work with XP Pro.
I installed J2SE 1.3.1_06 and 1.4.1_01, in that order, as I need both for development.

Much to my surprise switching the plugin's JRE between 1.4 and 1.3 in the control panel has no effect! I'm stick in 1.4 mode no matter what I do.

I need 1.3 for demos and testing.

Any ideas?

P.S. I have been JDK switching my browser for a while with no problems on W2K. Iv'e done it before. It just doesn't work under XP.
