Is Java required to be present on Oracle database servers, please? The servers in question host only Oracle database (Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production). This instance comes with Java (\OraHome_1\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\jdk, ...\jre, ...\jlib, etc) installed.
Our network services crew (sys ops) informs me that I must maintain all instances of Java, which maintenance I'd rather forego if Java is not necessary by simply removing Java form the database servers.
In summary, is Java required as a part of the Oracle database installation, please?
