Java APIs

I am running windows xp sp2 and ie ver7.0. I have tried to update to the jre and when it gets to the validating part of the install i get this error message: Internal error 2330.23, c:\programfiles\java\jre\1.6.0-02\bin Then it exits out of the install. I have tried to delete java from my computer completely and it will not let me access the control panel java settings. I have tried to do a system restore to when the computer was acting normal and I still get the same error message. It has been going on for a while now. I am also trying to run limewire and it says that I have to have the latest version of java in order to run it. So right now I am stuck can anyone offer some suggestions about how to get the new version of java or information on the error code that I get. there is not much on the web about the arror code and I am ready to start pulling my hair out. Oh yes i have tried to do the offline install as well and that does not help Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!
