java error

When I tried to play a game at pogo.com it said I needed Java installed so I installed it but I still get an error saying it doesn't recognize the Java. I went into settings, control panel and doubleclicked Java and tried the update button and it said I had the latest version so why do I still get the error when I try to play a game in pogo? Please help
