Java Download
843804Nov 4 2004 — edited Jan 27 2005My son needs to have Java downloaded so that he can practice writing programs using Java at home. At school, the computer science teacher uses an I-Mac Computer. At home we use a PC with Microsoft XP on it. The teacher directed us to a website from which to download:"www.teacherweb.com/tx/westwoodhighschool/mickeljeff/h4.stm". I was trying to do the initial installation of the J2SE v 1.4.2, and an error message came up that read: "This installation package is not supported by the processor type. Contact your product vendor."
What am I doing wrong? How can I get these 2 programs (JAVA and MICROSOFT) to talk to each other correctly so I can download this product? I have Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1, SP2. I have Internet Explorer Version 6.0.
There is a specific order needed to download Java, and I can't get past the first step.
Thanks,
