Java SE (Java Platform, Standard Edition)

I designed a java app with many panes, well screens I guess. I had a problem with the buttons on the screens as each button would have to navigate to some other screen. It was messy. I basically had one frame and kept changing the panes visible in it. I had to put all of the button handlers in one class and as I created a new pane and made it visible I would set up the handlers for that pane...hope u follow me on this :)

Anyway I'm not happy with that bit of programming which felt more like hacking. Does anybody have experience in many screen apps and navigation between the different screens on button clicks.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.
