Java and Linux, keyboard mapping problem.

807598Oct 22 2006 — edited Oct 23 2006
I'm currently trying Gentoo Linux (installed from the Live CD 2006.1).

Using this version of Java :
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)

My problem is that anywhere in any Java programs, when I type some letters like "?" (in french of course), Java doesn't seems to map the correct key code. I always get a beautiful square ().

At first I tought that this was my keyboard layout or my locale but no, elsewhere the keys work correctly.

Not a big deal but very anoying...
