Java 6 Update 30 ETA
904853Dec 12 2011 — edited Dec 12 2011I work for a university in Texas, and we use a learning management system called Blackboard. The October release of update 29 has broken the Chat tool in Blackboard which is used heavily in several of our courses. I've contacted Blackboard's support and have been told that this is an Oracle issue and not a Bb issue and that the upcoming Java 6 Update 30 release will fix this Chat issue. I was then directed to have my users downgrade to Update 27 (which is not really feasible since we have thousands of students/faculty who use this) and to contact Oracle to find out the ETA for Update 30.
I've called Oracle's Support, who referred me to Oracle Sales, who then referred me to Oracle's Customer Care line. They directed me to the Early Access Program site (http://jdk6.java.net/6uNea.html), where I was able to download Update 30 and confirm that it does indeed fix the Chat issue. They also recommended that I post to this discussion board asking if anyone knows when Update 30 is planned to be released.
Thank you for your time. I'd appreciate any information anyone can provide.
Thanks,
Katrina Adams
