JAB Compiler XJC Error: NoClassDefFound

Whenever I try to compile a schema it show NoClassDefFound Exception and says that it could not find com/sun/xml/XmlChar.class.
I am using Java Web Service 1.6 on WinXP and JDK 1.4.2_04. Please some direct me how to resolve the problem. It is not linked with any container, though I have Sun Java Web Server 6.1 and Application Server 8.1 Installed. Your help would be appreciable. Thanks in advance.
