Item Click tracking?

Guys,

For my application - I am putting up several help links to give more information to report users (who work on difference customer cases). The way I am doing that is by creating a Text Item that is "Display Only". So for example - I would put up a help link that has the name "Case 1 Help" and put my link in the Help Text as "To work for Case 1 - we do the following....."

However, I would like to see which of these links are clicked the most. This will help me put only those that are used regularly and help me highlight the ones that are important.

So my questions are:

1) First of all - is my solution the right way to solve my problem?

2) I checked the native logging and I do not find anything that I can use from the current logs that can tell me who clicked on the link. Is there a way to catch it and log it in a custom way?
