Issue Integrating Cohere AI with Oracle APEX 24.2 – 404 / Connectors Removed Errors

Arfaat Shaikh18 hours ago

Hello Community,

I am trying to integrate Cohere AI with Oracle APEX 24.2.8 to use generative AI in my application. I have followed the standard steps:

  1. Created a Web Credential for the Cohere API key.
  2. Set up a Generative AI service in APEX:
    • AI Provider: Cohere
    • Base URL: https://api.cohere.ai/v1
    • Credential: My API key
    • Model: command / command-r

Issues I am facing:

  1. When I click Test Connection, I get the error:

invalid request: parameter 'connectors' was removed from the Chat API on September 15, 2025

  1. After trying the /generate endpoint and setting the model to command or command-r, I get:

404 Page Not Found

Steps I have tried:

  • Using /generate endpoint with command model → still 404 in Test Connection.
  • Using /chat endpoint with command-r → still issues in APEX Test Connection.
  • Confirmed that the API key works via direct REST call (Postman / curl).

Observations / Notes:

  • Cohere’s documentation indicates /v1/generate for command and /v1/chat for command-r.
  • The APEX Test Connection seems to add deprecated connectors parameter automatically, causing errors.
  • The real PL/SQL calls via APEX_WEB_SERVICE.make_rest_request should work if endpoint and body are correct.

Request for Help:

  • Has anyone successfully integrated Cohere AI Generative models in Oracle APEX?
  • Is there a recommended setup for Base URL and Model to avoid connectors / 404 issues?
  • Any tips to make the Test Connection succeed or a workaround for APEX 24.2?

Thank you in advance for your guidance!!
