ISCSI questions

phaedrus77Jun 29 2012 — edited Jul 4 2012
Hi,

I'm running a OVM server (3.0.3) and OVMM (3.1.1). After quite an odyssey after an failed update on OVMM I'm back running.
Now I want to make use of some ISCSI targets which already hold images of VMs. Each virtual disk is handed out as an ISCSI target from the storage. The storage server is running Solaris10.
Unfortunately the documentation is a little sparse. So here's what I tried.
I went to discover SAN server in the OVMM WUI entered the data for server (using the generic plugin) and hit ok. The server turns up in the WUI but no targets/physical disks get listed. The volume group is size 0. On the OVM server (admin server for the SAN server) I see the discovery address is setup. Also iscsiadm -m node on the admin server lists the targets.
When I manually connect to the target (iscsiadm -m node ... login) the target shows up as physical disk under the "unmanaged iscsi storage array". but the volume group there still gives size 0 instead of the actual size. Also I have not yet found a way to use that physical disk somewhere. All places want me to select a SAN server first (which always gives an empty list to choose from).

So what important bit am I missing? How do I get OVMM to see the ISCSI targets on the server and use them?

Thanks,
Bernd
