Is SQL Developer (Desktop) going to be replaced by Microsoft VS Code in the future?

I downloaded Oracle SQL Developer extension for Microsoft VS Code from:

https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Oracle.sql-developer

It was released in early January-2024.

In the ‘Overview’ tab, I noticed this one sentence from Oracle:

Over the next few quarters, we will be rapidly introducing new features from the desktop tool, and the SQL Developer Extension for VS Code will become the new SQL Developer.

QUESTION: Is SQL Developer (desktop version) going to be replaced by Microsoft VS Code's “SQL Developer Extension” ?
