is recover database really needed for restoring db in no archivelog mode?

i have 11g db which is in no arch log mode, i took a consistent backup while db was in mount mode and then did

restore database;

and alter database open reset log which worked fine ....

i seen many websites claiming we also need to do recover database ( then cancel it ) or do recover database noredo , why are they doing this ?
