Is Oracle suitable for Christians?

662730Oct 4 2008 — edited Oct 4 2008
I’m hoping that this is the proper forum to ask general questions about Oracle databases. My church is seeking a database platform to serve as a holy vessel for sacred doctrine, and I have some important questions relating to the suitability of Oracle for a conservative Christian congregation.

It is important that our church choose a database that shares traditional All-American Christian values. Please accept these questions for your consideration:

- Can Oracle stores number as Roman numerals?

- Does Oracle easily support Aramaic characters?

- Can Oracle be configured to reject dates before 4004 BC. (the year God created the earth)

- Is the name “Oracle” a reference to the satanic Oracle at Delphi? If so, why would they choose the name of the pythians, the unholy devil worshippers of Greece? Is the name Oracle intended to allude to the satanic?

- Is Larry Ellison a practicing Christian?

- Does Oracle the company try (within the bounds of the law) to avoid hiring blasphemers, homosexuals and fornicators?

- Does Oracle observe the Sabbath and keep it Holy?

- I understand that Oracle has no direct control over those who use their product, but is Oracle used widely by murderers, homosexuals, democrats?

Please accept my questions in the spirit in which they are asked and understand that our church believes in the literal word of God. It is very important to us that whatever database we choose shares our traditional American values and is as immune as possible from evil influences.

Please restrict your responses to those who are practicing Christians. This is not to offend those who have rejected Jesus Christ as their personal savior, but we have no use for feedback from atheists and foreign heathens.

Yours in Christ,

Deacon Frank Pord & Lonzie Witmann
