Is Oracle Database 11g Encrypted by Default to Protect Data from Attacks ?

Hi,

I'm posting this question as we need to put an answer to a question in Application Security Review (ASR) document for a particular project. As am not a DB person, so thought of clarifying this thing out. Is there any method of encrypting the Data in the Database, if a feature is not present by default ? Is yes, what kind or Algorithm is used to achieve it.
