Is Linux TOP command heavy process?

Hi ALL,

I always use Linux "top" command to monitor our prod Oracle Database server performance.

I keep it running all the time, so I can readily see which program is getting 100% cpu

But my boss keep on telling me to close "top" session as it will affect performance?

I think she is wrong...right?

Can you confirm please the using "top" does not affect performance in our production system?
