Is it safe to install Oracle Linux OS updates on a production system that is up 24/7 without reboot?

wgraydbaAug 10 2016 — edited Aug 10 2016

We have a production server that is running our 24/7 Oracle database and it states it needs over 300+ patches.  We would like to install the patches, some of which we know are kernel patches, without rebooting the database until a reboot is needed (maybe one month from now during a scheduled routine outage).  We would like to know if these OS updates can be applied and if it will affect the processes already running?
