Is it mandatory to store archive logs in ASM in a RAC enabled Database???

In my Current RAC Database my archive log destination set to our ASM instance diskgroup, I need to change this to a normal mount point on my OS but when I tried to do so not able to change the same on both the instance only able to change this on a single instance.
Please guide me if it is possible to do so and tell me how to do it.
