Greetings,
I have been doing a lot of researches and reading online documents on APEX and the migration of forms to APEX for over a year, but I am still not comfortable with the idea of converting our small-mid size forms6i consisting of about 70-80 forms and currently running on Oracle dB 10.2g. Since Forms6i has not been supported by Oracle for many years, we have to decide soon what to with our forms6i application. One of the options is to migrate/convert the application to APEX.
BTW, I am one of the few programmers who are familiar w/ Oracle forms in our organization but none of us have experience in APEX.
Could you all, especially those who have experience in forms, APEX and migration of forms to APEX help me in answering the following questions?
Q1: Will it be cost/benefit effective to migrate/convert the forms6i to APEX?
Q2: What objects currently used in Forms6i cannot be converted to APEX?
Q3: What is the percentage of work required to be put in after running the forms to APEX conversion file(i.e. by using frmf2xml.bat) in order for the converted forms to run properly or close to the current functions? How long will it take to complete the conversion?
Q4: Would it be more feasible to upgrade forms6i to forms11 or forms12c?
Q5: Are there any other options, thoughts, suggestion and/or comments?
p.s. If you have a successful story of migrating forms6i to APEX, I would love to hear from you!
Thank you so very much in advance for any/all the help on the above questions.
Respectfully, JT
