Is HP ServiceGuard required for Oracle RAC 10.x and above...

Hello friends,

I'm trying to find out if there is any reason (pros and/or cons) for why to have and pay for HP Serviceguard when running Oracle RAC 10.x and above.

First, I'm trying to confirm if it is needed or not.

Second, why would someone pay so much extra money for HP Serviceguard and support if it is not needed and especially when it adds so much complexity and additional maintenance (and cost).

Naturally, all HP papers and sales people will try to convince you why it is needed, but I trust them less than a used car salesman.

Does anyone in this forum run RAC on HP-UX (11.23 and above) without ServiceGuard?
