Is ASM a singlr point of failure in a RAC cluster

673949Dec 4 2008 — edited Dec 5 2008
Hello All.

I'm new to Oracle and RAC but we are implementing a RAC cluster in my department. I'm trying to understand how ASM
fits into the picture with regards to controlling the Oracle instances conected to it. In a RAC cluster I understand I will have two
ASM instances (one for each node) with seperate instances connected to each one. If one of the ASM instances fails/crashes or hangs for whatever reason
presumably my instances connected to the node hang or crash? forgive my ignornace but I'm not so technical anymore.

Many Thanks
