Hai
I would like to install oracle database 10g with name prod in my linux machine.I already have an existing installation of oracle 9i database with the same database name prod.


Now,if i try to install the 10g database with name prod it throws an error as database name already exists in the inventory.

i would like to know whether i can delete the entries in the orainventory and install the 10 database with name .i want to know whether it is a proper way to do it.

if i delete the entries for oracle database 9i existing in the orainventory will it affect the functionality of the oracle 9i database .please help me
