Invalid character in rss feed giving me strange characters....

Hi there,
I'm currently working on implementing a feed throught java. im using Rome and HttpClient to get the feed entries. I have noticed that one of the feeds has an invalid ISO-8859-1 character in its feed, and this is whats giving me the dodgy character back. im getting a "?" mark back instead. if i try and read the feed using a utf-8 charset, im still getting an invalid character...

Is there any way to filter out invalid characters from the feed based on the charset type of the feed?
