Invalid Block Type

437394Jan 23 2006 — edited Jan 24 2006
I am using BBED just to test a block corruption and then recover from it. Also plan to recover data from that corrupted block.

The datafile I want to corrupt is users01.dbf on Oracle 8.1.7 Release 3 running on Windows 2003. The problem is when I use BBED with system01.dbf the dumps and everything runs fine. When it comes to users01.dbf other than block 1 if I set the

set dba 3, 1000

then issue

p /*

the block won't print and the following error would be returned

BBED-00400 Invalid Block Type

I know this is an undocumented tool but it would really help learn.

I hope I get a positive response.

Regards,

Mustafa
