intermittent connection loss to the oracle database using oledb

49526Dec 21 2011 — edited Jan 18 2012
I have an asp .net 2.0 application connecting to oracle 9.2.0.8 database via microsoft oledb driver.

The asp .net application is running on a IIS6.0 web server. The operating system is windows server 2003 R2 SP2.
The application server and oracle database servers are on separate physical machines. Both the machines are in the same network zone. There is no firewall in between the application and database servers.

The application connects perfectly to the database. However, recently the application has started to receive ora-03113 and ORA-12535 errors. These errors are intermittent but are appearing more frequently in the last couple of days. The number of user connected to the database at any given instance is not more than 20 users.

When the errors occur i can still connect to the oracle database from my machine using sqlplus and execute queries on the database.

I have appended the listener trace file snippet at the end.

The SQLNET.ora file has a single entry : SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION = (nts)

The alert log also does not give any error pointing to ora-03113 and ora-12535 errors.

I have searched google and on this forum for a solution but could not find an answer matching my situation.

Could anybody help me resolve this problem? Does the SQLNET.ora require more parameters to be set?
