Integration of MULTIPLE R12 EBS instances with Central Portal Repository

582106Jan 23 2008
Hello,

We have multiple Release 12 E-business Suite instances in the development, and we are looking at integrating these with a central portal repository.

I went through quite a few metalink notes and other documents to figure out how this would be possible.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Metalink Note: 415007.1 Oracle Application Server with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 FAQ

Section "5. Portal Questions" of the above note mentions:

Q:: Can Portal be integrated with multiple Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 instances?

A: Yes, multiple E-Business Suite instances may be registered with a central Portal 10g instance.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm looking for further details on this please. How exactly is this achieved? Has anybody tried it?

The questions that come to mind are, does the above statement mean that we can simply keep registering multiple EBS instances against one Portal 10g repository?

The setup we have currently is:

Host 1
----------
OID + Metadata repository (in the OID database)

Host 2
----------
1) SSO
2) Portal Mid Tier ( registered against the metadata repository on Host 1)

Host A
---------
EBS Instance 1

Host B
----------
EBS Instance 2

...

..

Host E
----------
EBS Instance 5

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had done a previous implementation of the same scenario with EBS 11i. And if I remember correctly, I could integrate one EBS instance with one Portal repository. But, when I would register the next EBS instance against the same portal repository, the information of the first EBS instance would get overwritten. Thus, effectively, we had only one EBS registered with one Portal repository. And we had to split this setup to have multiple Portal metadata repositories and move them out of the OID database to support integration of multiple EBS instances.

Thus, we had one OID/SSO installation ( and a OID database), and separate Portal metadata repositories for each of the EBS instances.Has this changed? Or there are other deployment options available to have just ONE CENTRAL Portal repository for multiple EBS instances?

Any comments or pointers to docs which can clarify this would be immensely helpful.

Thanks!
