Instant Client BI Server and TNSNAMES.ORA

I'm currently running a local install of OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 using the 10gr2 Instant Client. I have a TNS_ADMIN entry in my registry that allows me to point to a common tnsnames.ora file entry residing on a file server which I have no problems accessing. Unfortunately my BI Server appears to be unable to access any databases when configured in this manner. Surprisingly, when I copy this exact same file down to a my C drive and then repoint the TNS_ADMIN registry entry to point to this location everything works.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
