Installing XFree86 4.1.0

I've tried to install XFree86 4.1.0 to have my geforce256 working properly. I've passed all the steps listed in the SolarisX86-FAQ (How do you install XFree86?). The test of the X-Server shows the normal X-startup background, mouse moves - seems to work. After I've set the link in /etc/dt/config/XServers to /usr/X11R6/bin/X (as explained in the FAQ) and a reboot, solaris couldn't boot into dtlogin (unable to run x-server on ...)

Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Does anyone know about other step-by-step installation guides for XFree86 (especially for Version 4.1.0 on Solaris 8)?
