Installing ODAC on top of an existing Instant Client installation
856953Jul 28 2011 — edited Oct 18 2012I have a question about installing the 64-bit ODAC on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. I've already installed the "Instant Client Package - Basic" along with the "Instant Client Package - SQL*Plus" from this page...

Now I want to install the xcopy version of the "64-bit ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) for Windows x64" but I noticed that the zip contains an Instant Client folder. Does this mean I should not have installed & configured the Instant Client separately beforehand? The Instant Client packages I installed were not the Oracle Universal Installer so I don't think there will be a problem but I want to make certain.
Also, assuming there are no problems with using the pre-existing Instant Client package, am I correct in believing that I should kick off the ODAC installation by executing *install.bat all c:\[path_to_instant_client] odac* at the command line from the folder where I've unpackaged the ODAC zip archive?
I would appreciate any insights as to the best way to go about a successful ODAC installation based on the info provided above. Thanks!
