Installing Chinese Fonts in JRE

843805Dec 30 2006 — edited Dec 30 2006
Hi,

I had written some codes in windows. It was working and I tried running it in Linux Ubuntu it worked fine too but the problem is, the Chinese character to be displayed on the JPanel showed a square.

I presumed that JRE does not support that particular Chinese font type. I did a search on my system and the following are the fonts which I gather:

Available Fonts:
Default
Dialog
DialogInput
Lucida Bright
Lucida Sans
Lucida Sans Typewriter
Monospaced
SansSerif
Serif
BUILD SUCCESSFUL (total time: 0 seconds)

I did a search on Google but it seems that I couldnt find how to extend or install new font types in JRE. Again checking fonts in fonts.properties [JRE] confirmed that these are the only fonts which NetBeans 5.0 used during the compilation.

May I know how do I install new fonts [Chinese fonts in particular] in JRE/ Netbeans to enable the correct display of Chinese charater?

An example of Chinese font maybe SimSun,SimHei, etc...

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks!
