installed but not able to boot
807559Feb 17 2006 — edited Feb 18 2006if you have a success story on a similar system below, please reply.
system:
athlon64 x2 3800+ with ECS nForce4-A939 board, customized box. WD 160G SATA II disk. Solaris (01/06, update 1) on the sda3.
the system currently works ok with winxp (32-bit), win2003 (32bit), suse10.0 (64 bit).
during installation, it stuck at 'configuring device' for don't know how long - it continues next morning. with acpi-user-options=0x0 speeds this step up significantly. it was able to finish the whole installation process after that via burnt DVD.
next boot always failed with a lot of informational message ended as
WARNING: /pci@0,0/pci-ide@7/ide@1/cmdk@0,0 (Disk 0)
Error for command 'read sector' error level: informational
Sense key: aborted command
Vendor 'Gen-ATA' error code: 0x3
WARNING: init(1M) exited on fatal signal 10. restarting automatically
WARNING: exec(/sbin/init) failed with error 5
WARNING: failed to restart init(1M) (err=5) system reboot required.
i was not able to pass this point.
appreciate any help, thanks, shen
