Installation of Oracle 8i

Hello everybody,

I got my first contact with Oracle recently, when i ve been asked to install Oracle 8i on a server at my job.
The physical platform is a Xeon 5506 under 2003 server executing HyperV, emulating 2 P3 at 1 Ghz, on which i installed Windows 2000 server SP4.
After being trying everything, i still unable to access to the database and to run the services. I still have a ORA 12560 message, but it only tell that the service was unable to read the TNSnames.ora.
I wonder how i have to troubleshoot it, i followed the steps of the documentation of Oracle but without success.
Does anybody got an idea or something that can help ?
