Installation of Oracle 10g release 2 for MAC OSX

Starting from the top...I realize i could have posted in incorrect spot. If so, appoligizes and ill repost somewhere else.

I am a graduate student and need OLAP, data warehousing, transactional database all wrapped in one. Oracle seems to have a solution for me however installation is very difficult. I followed the installation tasks very precisely with no luck in the end.

I am using OSX Lion 10.7 on an 8 core macbook pro. Is installation of 10g possible? How about 11g? What information should i post to guide those willing to help?

I appreciate any help and direction offered.
