INSTALLATION OF NEW VERSION OF JAVA

I presently have the JAVA plugin 1.6.0_07 installed. Sometimes when I attempt to view a video I recieve an error message saying that I do not have JAVA installed on my machine- please download the latest version.

I am running IE7 and Firefox 3. I have seen some comments where Java SE Runtime Environment 6u10 does not run on Firefox 3. I wish to update my version of JAVA , please supply a link to a version which is both an update for my present version and which will work properly with both IE7 and Firefox 3
