Install solaris 10 x86 from DVD on a AMD64 = Problems

807557Sep 16 2005 — edited Sep 26 2005
Hi I just downloaded the Solaris 10 x86/x64 to a DVD. (CAT the files together, with no problems)
I am installing it on a HP Pavillion zv5000 Laptop w\ AMD64 Athlon Processor.
The Laptop has 80G Hard Drive Partitioned.
I have XP Pro on Primary Partition C:\ and I have an empty Primary Partition E:\ thats unformatted for Solaris.
I put the DVD w\ Solaris 10 in my Computer and it does nothing. (tired to boot from it as well as open in it XP.)
The DVD is 2.54G and I can view the Files as follows:
Track 01
iso SOL_10_305_X86
SOL_10_305_X86
Bootable CD
SOL_10_305_X86
(DVD Looks like it loaded well)
to be able to view files i send it to ISO Buster, Otherwise I would not be able to view files at all. I sopose thats normal.
My Question is what am I doing wrong or not doing to install this Product or tell me why It will not install on this computer.
Any thoughts you have is appreaciated.
One thought I keep having is when I downloaded Solaris and chose x86/x64 it does not give you a second pick to select 64bite Processor, whick I was looking for, the SUN website is kinda vague regarding if that will work on AMD64. could that be the issue?
Thank You,
Mike
