install oracle client + discoverer

Hi

I need to use a client pc with discoverer (database server is v.8)

I tried to install "OracleDeveloperSuite10g90401" (includes discoverer), after the install i configure tsnames, but apps that using tsnames connection, broke with an error.

This apps run correctly client version v9i and v10, with the same config.

Only developer versions includes discoverer? where i could download a developer version 8 or 9?

Time ago i run correctly using:

"Oracle Discoverer™ Administration Edition
Release 3.1 Production for Windows 95 and Windows NT
December 1998
Release 3.1.26.01"

New versions should run correctly with old ddbb?
Is possible download old versions?
is posible install a oracle client ex.9i working correctly and add OracleDeveloperSuite10g90401 for use only discoverer?
