Install on Linux

scottjhnJan 15 2006 — edited Jan 17 2006
Tried to install Oracle Database 10g on Linux (SuSE). But always failed:

I installed the oracle DBMS software first, and then use the DBCA to install the database second.

1) After the DBMS is installed, the completion page will display:

iSQL*Plus URL:
http://66.150.161.56:5560/isqlplus

iSQL*Plus DBA URL:
http://66.150.161.56:5560/isqlplus/dba

--The computer has a static IP (192.168.1.2) NOT the 66.150.161.56. Where is this 66.150.161.56 picked up?

2) During the database installation, it always pops up an error:

Failed to allocate ports...
[5540-5559], RMI[5520-5539], Database Control[5500-5519 EM Agent [3938] | [1830-1849]

I went to the /etc/services and commentted out the line having the port number. Removed the db, reboot, and reinstall. But could never overcome this barrier.

--What should I do?

Thanks
