Install 10.1g - ORA-00988 Missing or Invalid Password(s)

Hi:

I'm new to Oracle Database systems...

I'm trying to install the 10.1g enterprise database on my Windows XP professional system (meets minimum requirements). When the installer gets to the Database Creation Assistant, at about 78% complete, I get the error: ORA-00988 Missing or Invalid Password(s). I have no idea where to look for the error, and I never get access to the database that gets automatically created. I can use the Enterprise Manager.

What am I doing wrong, or what needs to get set so the system works?
