[INS-40719] IP address configured for Single Client Access Name (SCAN)

I am getting the following error while installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure on RHEL 5.8 x64-64

"[INS-40719] IP address configured for Single Client Access Name (SCAN): string is already assigned to another system."

I can ping the SCAN and also check the nslookup of SCAN and corresponding IP addresses with no issues but fails during the GI installation. Appreciate any help.
