Inquiry regarding official OpenSSL 3.5 support roadmap for Oracle Solaris 11.4

Pratik PanditFeb 26 2026

Hello Oracle Solaris Team,

I am inquiring about the current and future support roadmap for OpenSSL on Oracle Solaris 11.4 (SunOS 5.11).

Currently, we are tracking OpenSSL 3.0.x LTS as the bundled version in the latest SRUs (e.g., SRU 89/90). However, we have internal requirements/queries regarding the transition to OpenSSL 3.5.

Could the team please clarify:

  1. Is OpenSSL 3.5 currently supported (officially or via any specific repository) on Solaris 11.4?
  2. Is there a planned SRU (Support Repository Update) in 2026 that will introduce OpenSSL 3.5 as a bundled or optional package?
  3. Does Oracle have a recommended path for users requiring OpenSSL 3.5 features, or is the 3.0 branch intended to remain the primary LTS version for the current lifecycle?

Any official documentation links or Support Doc IDs (MOS) regarding this transition would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Pratik Pandit
