Infinite Loop when logging into 10g EM: : HHTTP/1.1302 Moved Temporarily

448923Oct 22 2005 — edited Oct 22 2005
Hi To Everybody,

I'm quite a newbie to Oracle so I beg you to forgive my lack of
knowledge about common issues in Oracle Databases.

I've installed an Oracle 10g 10.1.0.2.0 Database into a Windows XP Pro
SP1 Athlon XP 1800 PC with 1Gb of RAM.

The Oracle's software has been downloaded from Oracle's webpage and
copied into a CD.

I 've created (and formatted) a 18Gb NTFS partition on my HDD in order
to make a clean install.

After formatting the HDD I've created de Windows XP Pro SP1 partition
with an administrator account and a user account. Once windows
installation has finished I've copied into the HDD the Oracle's
software I had burnt on the CD and I've launched it.

I've chosen the Personal Edition installation and I've created a
started database with schema examples.

When the installation has finished I've gone to
http://localhost:5500/em and created a user ("USER1") to access the
ORCL starter database. I've given this user almost each role and
privilege I've been able to.

Also I've created a 'Local Net Service Name' (the 3rd option in the Net
configuration assistant) with the "Net Configuration Assistant". The
name of this service name has been orcl so that it matches the started
db name. As user/password I've used the ones I has previously created
on the 'Enterprise Manager'.

The problem comes when I reboot the PC twice (on the first reboot, with my cable modem off, EM worked right) and I connect to Internet.

As stated in
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=277341&tstart=0
you'll have problems with EM if your IP is different from the value it had when you installed Oracle.

I made my Oracle installation with my cable modem off so I must restart manually the OracleDbConsoleorcl from Services in "Administrative tools" when my cable modem is also off.

Unfortunately when I go to http://localhost:5500/em, I get stuck in what it seems an infinite loop of logon screens and http links.

The first screen is this one:

"HTHTTP/1.102 Moved Temporarily Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 19:15:45 GMT
Server: Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (9.0.4.0.0)
Content-Length: 381 Set-Cookie: EM_AUTH_USERID=; Comment=EM cookie;
Expires=Thu, 01-Jan-1970 00:00:00 GMT; Path=/em/console Cache-Control:
private Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100 Content-Type: text/plain
Location:
http://localhost:5500/em/console/logon/logon;jsessionid=3e39892f157c8...
http://localhost:5500/em/console/logon/logon;jsessionid=3e39892f157c8..."

The second location is actually a link which obviously point to:
http://localhost:5500/em/console/logon/logon;jsessionid=3e39892f157c8...

Once there, I can see the normal Enterprise Manager logon screen.
However, no matter which combination of user/password I try, I always
come to a screen similar to the previously described but with different
link numbers:

"HTHTTP/1.102 Moved Temporarily Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 19:20:20 GMT
Server: Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (9.0.4.0.0)
Content-Length: 387 Cache-Control: private Keep-Alive: timeout=15,
max=100 Content-Type: text/plain Location:
http://localhost:5500/em/console/database/home;jsessionid=7f000001157...
http://localhost:5500/em/console/database/home;jsessionid=7f000001157..."

The second link leads me to the first screen but with different numbers.

As a result of this, I cannot log on EM and I cannot enjoy its interesting new features

Does anybody have any ideas or links to documentation where I can find a solution to this issue so that I can finally get into Enterprise Manager?

TIA,

David Grant
