incompatibility between SDO and SDE data format when measures are used?
728452Oct 16 2009 — edited Oct 20 2009Hello. Has anyone imported (copied) arcs from an SDO dataset into an SDE dataset and experienced problems with slow plotting of x, y coordinates? We have begun importing arcs from an SDO dataset and can paste the data into SDE with no issues. But when we export to a shape file which our MapStar software (MapObjects based) uses, we have a degradation in plotting a point from a few seconds to minutes. The time is cumulative in that if you reboot the machine it will plot fast again but after a few plot transactions it is slow again.
This is also cumulative in terms of the number of imported arcs in the dataset, if just a few there won't be a noticable slowdown but after about 1000 arcs (statewide dataset so it is still a small percentage of arcs) the slowness is unbearable. We are wondering if the problem has something to do with the original data in SDO having measures. The measures are not used in SDE or in the MapStar software and are not consciously copied into SDE. Is there something in the guts of the SDO to SDE transformed data that might still have measures?
Thank you for any leads you can offer.
