Import Oracle Database File Error

Hi Experts,

I got an oracle dump file somefile.dmp today. i dont have any details regarding the dump file but the size is nearly 1.5GB.

I just thought to import that file to my existing Database in local server, the local oracle server details are

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production          
PL/SQL Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production                                          
CORE	11.1.0.7.0	Production                                                      
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production                         
NLSRTL Version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production

But when i tried to import the dump file, i received the following error

IMP-00037: Character set marker unknown
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

Can some one help me in this?
