IMP - 00058 and ORA-00942 encountered while importing .dmp file

I am importing a ".dmp" file and during the import the following error pops up

IMP-00058: ORACLE error 942 encountered.

ORA-00942:table or view does not exist.

I have just started using oracle, so would appreciate any clarifications on this issue. Additionally, I am using Oracle 11g standard edition.
