Immediate shutdown in progress

Hi Experts,

Our Production database was accidentally shutdown last night which caused few jobs to fail.

We are not able to locate why the shutdown took place.

Our audit trail is disabled. From the alert logs, this is what we found:

Thu Oct 23 20:12:46 2008
Shutting down instance: further logons disabled
Thu Oct 23 20:12:46 2008
Shutting down instance (immediate)
License high water mark = 863
Thu Oct 23 20:17:09 2008
Shutting down instance (abort)
License high water mark = 863

Could you advise if any CPU or memory space issues can cause this shutdown?
We feel this activity was not a manual one but it happened due to memory issues.

Please advise.

Thanks,
