IMAP, POP, HTTP connection limits

Messaging 5.x and 6.x:

Are there default limits when these three configutil parameters are not set?

service.imap.connlimits
service.pop.connlimits
service.http.connlimits

Or, is the default to allow the maximum number of any kind of connection based on OS configuration?
