Image copies on tape with RMAN

Dear fellow dbas,

is it possible to create image copies of archivelogs with rman and store them on tape by specifiying the channel that is used by RMAN?

As far as I know, it is possible to create image copies on disk only. I need these files to stored on tape however, and want to avoid backupsets.

If you have an idea as to whether it'll work, please let me know!
